After being convicted of 13,143 offenses, a Pennsylvania man was sentenced to 3,000 years in prison on Tuesday for years of child sex crimes.
Matthew Perry, 44, was found guilty in November following a six-year trial in Greene County Court for child sex offenses. He will not be parole-eligible until the year 3523.
Greene County District Attorney David Russo said in a statement, “This conviction and sentence is extraordinary and a watershed moment in the fight against sexual predators.” “I hope that additional district attorneys adopt our objective to protect children.”
Russo, who prosecuted this case himself, stated in a phone interview with Fox News Digital that this case exemplifies how his administration is taking a more forceful approach to discouraging sexual predators from abusing minors.
“These rapes did not occur simultaneously, so why are they being charged as one count?” Russo stated. “They are unconcerned if they believe they can do something similar and only receive six to ten years or six to twelve years in prison.”
Hence, he pressed for charges to be filed for each occurrence separately.
Russo stated, “When we accuse people in this manner, we can obtain harsher terms.” We wish to discourage this behavior and ensure the protection of our youngsters.
The victim’s six-year horror began when she was five years old and stopped in 2017 when her friend noticed what was happening and informed a school counselor.
Perry was previously convicted by the same judge in May of abusing a different girl between the summer of 2016 and March of 2017 and sentenced to 40 to 80 years in jail.
Cheyenna Perry, Perry’s 40-year-old wife, was also sentenced to three and a half to seven years in prison and required to register as a sex offender for filming sex activities and taking obscene images.
