China’s largest solar hydrogen farm, the Rudong Offshore Photovoltaic Hydrogen Energy Storage Project, is now operational in Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, as of December 31, 2024. This cutting-edge facility integrates solar power generation, hydrogen production, energy storage, and refueling in one innovative system.
Covering 287 hectares with a 400 MW capacity, the project features a hydrogen station capable of producing 1,500 cubic meters per hour and advanced energy storage for stable electricity supply.
By 2025, it will generate 468 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, saving 151,000 tonnes of coal and cutting CO₂ emissions by over 309,000 tonnes. It also reduces sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide emissions significantly, advancing environmental protection.
Harnessing tidal flat resources and advanced technology, the project boosts grid stability, improves energy efficiency, and marks a milestone in renewable energy. Rudong is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
