China is stepping up its push for 6G innovation and upgrading its 5G networks to 5G-A under a bold new data infrastructure plan. Released Monday, the plan is set to shape the nation’s digital future.
By 2029, China aims to complete a comprehensive data ecosystem with interconnected networks, a robust data industry, and a unified national data market. This plan supports ‘digital China’ goals, modernizing governance and boosting the digital economy.
The strategy includes creating a national data ledger for seamless data sharing, enhancing R&D in transmission, storage, and processing, and promoting green energy in computing hubs to achieve carbon neutrality.
Future infrastructure will feature high-bandwidth optical networks, integrated satellite-earth internet, and international data gateways to drive global connectivity.
With over 4.19 million 5G base stations and growing industrial applications, China is laying a strong foundation for 6G and redefining the global digital landscape.
