Chelsea’s resurgence under new manager Enzo Maresca continued with an impressive 4-2 win over Brighton. One player who took all the headlines following Chelsea’s win over Brighton was Cole Palmer, last season’s Chelsea Player of the Season and the Premier League Young Player of the Season.
Cole Palmer scored all four Chelsea goals against Brighton. The surprising aspect about all four goals is that they came in the first half, making him the first player in Premier League history to score four first-half goals.
Palmer’s performance against Brighton has drawn praise from Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who thinks the England international’s performance shows he is the best player in the Premier League.

What did Enzo Maresca say about Cole Palmer?
The Italian said after the match, “He scored four, but he could have scored two or three more.
“It’s important he stays hungry, ambitious and I know him from many years ago with the under-23s at City and with the first team.
“What he was as a boy is exactly what he was three or four years ago. Goals, assists, and best player of the Premier League – this doesn’t change the way he is. He’s a humble guy and for me it’s the most important thing.
“He’s a top player and today in football young players can change quick. Cole scores goals and never changes and this is the most important thing.
“‘He’s special player, he’s a simple and humble guy. He doesn’t need to tell people how good he is because you can see it clearly.”
Brighton’s unbeaten run in the Premier League under new manager Fabian Hurzeler came to an end against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Fabian Hurzeler has also described Cole Palmer as the best player he has faced in the Premier League.
He said:” ‘So far yes.
“He scored four goals and punished every mistake. He punished the first and second with the penalty, you can’t stop him in one-against-one situations and we have to defend him as a team.
“Sometimes we lost our structure and it’s difficult to defend players like this.”
Cole Palmer, happy with the Blue’s win and historical performance, admitted he could have scored more goals.
Palmer told BBC’s Match of the Day: I should have had five or six!
“When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we’d get more chances.
“The manager set up a good game plan, we knew how to attack them with first-time passes in behind. I try and play every game the best I can.”
The result against Brighton means Chelsea climbs to the Champions League position this season and will hope to maintain this momentum. We are only six games into the season, and their hope of finishing in the top four and ultimately winning the Premier League depends on their performance in the remaining 32 matches.
