Chelsea have completed the transfer of Angelo Gabriel from Santos as new manager Mauricio Pochettino seeks to bolster his squad with talented young players.
When he made his senior debut at 15 years and 308 days of age, the 18-year-old winger became the youngest player in the annals of Brazil’s national championship.
Gabriel’s transfer fee and duration of contract have not been confirmed, although reports indicate he cost the Premier League club approximately $17 million (£13 million).
“Welcome to Chelsea, Angelo!” the club’s official website announced on Sunday.
Angelo joins the London club after making 129 appearances in all competitions for Santos, netting five goals and registering ten assists. He is also the youngest participant in Copa Libertadores history to score a goal.
