Chelsea holds the tenth spot in the English Premier League for the 2022–23 season with 38 points after 27 games. The club has recorded 10 victories, 8 draws, and 9 defeats. Its most recent encounter ended in a 2-2 draw at home against Everton, with Joo Félix and Kai Havertz scoring. Christian Pulisic believes they can make it to the top four this season despite this disappointing match.

His firm belief may be valid, considering the club’s young talents. Under Todd Boehly, Chelsea has invested so much in world-class and upcoming players. The 2022 summer transfer window saw the club sign Brighton’s Marc Cucurella and Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana to reinvigorate the back line. Experienced veterans like Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were brought in to bolster the team’s defence and attack.

The Blues also made some heavy spending in January 2023, bringing in talents like Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Félix, Noni Madueke, and David Datro Fofana. This article explores Chelsea’s potential future status and includes insights about what to expect from the club’s talented players.

Chelsea’s January transfers shocked the football world

The Blues are known for their large purse of players, but the 2023 January transfer spending was shocking. Chelsea’s managers loosened their purse strings and spent over £300 million on eight new signings. Their record signing was for the Argentina central midfielder Enzo Fernández, whom they acquired for a whopping £107 million. This is closely followed by another young talent, Mykhaylo Mudryk, who was signed for £88 million.

The eight new signings have fared differently since arriving at Stamford Bridge. Enzo has been instrumental in the Blues’ success under Potter, and the Englishman praised the player’s performance following the resounding victory in Leicester. Murdryk has only contributed one assist in seven games and hasn’t played in three of the Blues’ past four matches. Potter has acknowledged that Chelsea supporters might have to wait until the following season to see the best of Murdryk.

Joao Felix’s season got off to a rocky start when he was sent off in the opening loss to Fulham with a red card. However, his first goal back for the Blues, against West Ham, set things on track for the rest of his stint with the club. He then scored the first goal for Chelsea in their 2-2 draw with Everton. Felix is considered a crucial part of Chelsea’s future game plan. Thus, he needs to prove himself and urge the Blues board to make his move on the team permanent.

More new incomings like Benoit Badiashile and Weshley Forfana have not contributed to the scoring procedures, but these players are bought to be Chelsea’s defending rocks and assist in their team’s clean sheets.

Chelsea fans should be optimistic ahead of their team’s future

Chelsea has stayed within expectations considering the amount they spent on bringing in new players for reinforcement. Nevertheless, punters who place bets at bookies at nongamstopsites.bet are optimistic about the club’s future and have wagered on them winning the EPL. Both fans and bettors believe that, with time, the Blues will return to the top from their tenth position.

This optimism stems from a few factors, one of which is the players’ low age average. The club was selective about its acquisitions in age, with many of them ranging between 20 and 23 years. Enzo, for instance, hit 21 in January 2023, and Forfana will be 21 in December 2023. They also have players like Harvey Vale (19) and Lucas Bergström (20). Simply put, many of the new signings are still budding players with many years ahead of them to show their talent.

Chelsea might have many new and rising talents, but it also has experienced players. Thiago Silva. is renowned for his defensive skills, self-control, and leadership, making him one of the best defenders of his time. Another one is N’Golo Kante, an injured player who recently recovered, but everyone knows what he offers to his team. These kinds of experienced players will serve as an inspiration and guide the young players to success.

Another strong point of the club is its financial backing. From what we’ve seen during the summer and winter transfers, Chelsea is fine with financing. The higher-ups at Chelsea are willing to onboard new players, get a better coach, and provide the necessities for the team to succeed.

Young guns will face challenges they have to overcome

Chelsea is aiming for the top four positions in the EPL at the start of the season, but with their performance so far, that position seems like a faraway dream. The club’s current coach, Graham Potter, has had the support of Todd Boehly, mainly because he is convinced that the English coach is not the reason for their unimpressive run. Potter managed to ease the pressure on his job by securing the UCL quarter-finals ticket.

The pressure is not only on Graham Potter but also on the club’s young guns, especially big-money players like Enzo Fernandez. Fans are waiting with their fingers crossed to see what these new signings bring to the table, and the club owners are hoping for results on their investment. The problem is that everything is happening too fast. New players have yet to have a chance to get used to their new club and build solid relationships that might have a positive impact on their field play.

Chelsea’s players also have scoring goals problems. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, a former Chelsea striker, has pointed out that the Blues’ goal-scoring issue is not limited to the team’s strikers but also the midfield players. The Blues have also had their fair share of injured players, which is believed to have contributed to their overall performance this season.

All in all, Chelsea’s EPL season seems to be over, as the European train has been lost. The staff has to turn its focus to the next season and find ways to incorporate the new blood into the team’s principles. The English Premier League is the most competitive football championship worldwide, and the young players acquired a necessity to bring London Blues back to the top. Not the easiest mission to accomplish, but Chelsea’s board is on the right track.
