Chelsea announced on Tuesday that they have acquired forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
The France international has signed a six-year contract with Chelsea after spending four years in the Bundesliga.
“I am ecstatic to join Chelsea,” Nkunku said on the club’s website. “A significant effort was made to bring me to the club, and I look forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and demonstrating my abilities to the Chelsea fans on the field.”
“Having competed in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now wish to compete in the Premier League, one of the world’s strongest leagues. I am thrilled by this challenge and will don the Chelsea shirt with pride.”
Nkunku, 25 years old, has been one of Germany’s top performers for a number of years and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season and German PFA Player of the Season in 2022-23.
In addition, he helped Leipzig win back-to-back German Cups and contributed 23 goals in all competitions during the previous campaign.
