He played in various films and television programs as a child, including Weird Science, Out of This World, Punky Brewster, and Webster. He also had recurrent parts in these shows.
In addition, Steven played a youthful version of Spock in the 1984 film Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. He was the first actor besides Leonard Nimoy to play the character of Spock in a live-action rendition, and he also had a small part in the 1989 film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, which Disney produced. Steven became the first actor other than Frank Welker to accomplish so after providing the voice of a young Fred Jones for four seasons on the Hanna-Barbera animated series A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. Hanna-Barbera produced the series. Matthew was the name of the role he performed in the last episode of the Weird Science television series, which was his final acting credit. Up to his retirement from acting in 1996, he would appear in six series episodes.

Personal Details
After removing his tonsils, Steven developed an addiction to the prescribed drugs and resorted to stealing to maintain his habit. In 1998, he tied the knot with Dawn Krakoff, and the couple stayed married until he died in 2011. He gave birth to a boy whom he called Noah.
In 2009, Steven was taken into custody for his involvement in six armed robberies that he committed at various Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy locations. In 2010, he was given a jail term of thirteen years. It was anticipated that he would be freed in the year 2023.
An accidental overdose of heroin caused Steven’s death on July 31, 2011, at 36, when he was incarcerated in Tucson, Arizona.
