CBD is steadily growing in popularity. More people consider it a natural treatment for various health conditions such as anxiety, arthritis, hormonal acne, and major heart diseases. CBD is readily available in most CBD stores, online and offline. While there is the standard dosage, it differs from one person to another. What is the proper dosage for you could be an overdose or underdose for another person. Let’s discuss overdosing on CBD.

How Much CBD Should You Take?

CBD has thousands of health benefits to the human body. For you to achieve these benefits, you need to take the correct CBD dosage. Regardless of the conditions you are treating, your best shot lies in getting an adequate dosage. It is tough to figure out how much CBD you should take as it is not regulated by the FDA.

Factors that Affect Your CBD Dosage

Several aspects determine your intake and dosage.

  1. Method of consumption: How do you intend to take the CBD? There are different ways that you can consume your CBD, such as oral, topical, vaping, and intravenous(IV) means. While it depends on your preference, some methods are slower than others and could prompt you to overdose.
  2. Timeframe: What results do you want, and when do you want them? CBD heals a lot of health conditions. For those it doesn’t heal, it alleviates the pain and discomfort. For example, if you are battling arthritis, it can take quite some time to get your legs steady, eliminate the pain, and foster your stability. On the other hand, if you are dealing with minor headaches or muscle pains, the CBD will work faster and deliver results within a few hours. You need to know the timeframes for treatment so that you do not overuse it.
  3. Targets: Where does the CBD need to reach? For your CBD to be effective, it needs to get where it is required in good time. This affects the method of consumption. If you want to address a vaginal issue, you should insert the required amount in the vaginal opening.
  4. The food you eat: The food you eat also affects how CBD interacts with your body. If you go healthy, you are likely to use less CBD than an unhealthy person.
  5. The THC levels: What is the THC content of your CBD product? THC is the psychoactive component in CBD products. It makes you get a high feeling. A good product should have less than 3%THC. You must check the levels and know how much you should take. If you overdose on a product that has high THC levels, you may end up feeling too high to go about your daily activities.
  6. Existing prescriptions: Are you on other prescriptions? While CBD is not a medicine? It alters your body system’s functionality. If you are taking other medications, you need to be more careful about the dosage. Don’t take too little or too much.
  7. CBD Sensitivity: How sensitive are you to CBD? Instead, what is your CBD threshold? As a starter, you may need to take more amounts to determine your best dose. Listen to your body and adjust where possible.
  8. Other Individual Factors: Your weight and BMI have a massive hand in determining your ideal dosage. Heavier people can’t share dosages with lighter people as they may not be effective. It should be personalised.
  9. Use a Dosage Calculator: There are various dosage calculators that you can find online for CBD consumption. Use them well and know what your perfect dosage is. With the info, you do not underdose or overdose.
  10. Talk to Your Doctor: The doctor will carry out a few tests to help you know your ideal dosage.

All these factors affect the right amount or dosage for your body. Do not take a dosage recommended by a friend, as this could hugely mess things up. Talk to your doctor and discuss the appropriate CBD dosages as well as any potential risks. Stick to the doctor’s recommendation and use the CBD according to their prescription.

Conclusion: Is it possible to overdose on CBD?

CBD is an all-natural component. According to research, it does not have any side effects on anyone regardless of age and health conditions. Just like other components that alter your body’s functionality, you need to take it in the correct dosages. If you are taking pure CBD, it is not possible to overdose. However, if CBD products have THC and other additives, you can suffer some side effects such as diarrhoea, drowsiness, appetite changes, and fatigue. To avoid these problems, you should determine your perfect dosage.
