Calum Thomas Hood, who goes by the name Calum Hood on numerous social media platforms and in the entertainment industry, is a well-known Australian musician born on January 25, 1996, in Mount Druitt, Australia. He was born under the sign of Aquarius, with Australian nationality and white ethnicity. He was taken to a former Coca-Cola employee, David Hood, and Joy Hood, a worker in the superannuation industry. He is the younger brother of singer-songwriter Mali-Koa. Hood describes his background as “middle-class” and “not the most spectacular existence.”
He went to Norwest Primary School, where in the third grade, he made friends with Michael Clifford, a future bandmate. He went to Norwest Christian College for high school, where he met Luke Hemmings, who would become his bandmate. The two sang a version of “Secondhand Serenade” at a school talent show in Year 7.

In 2011, Hood, Clifford, and Hemmings started posting covers of songs on Hemmings’ YouTube channel. The current 5 Seconds of Summer lineup comprises the original three members plus their friend Ashton Irwin.
After posting covers of songs online for a while, the band started getting noticed by major music labels and publishers. They signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
He and the band have since released five studio albums: 5 Seconds of Summer in 2014, Sounds Good Feels Good in 2015, Youngblood in 2018, Calm in 2020, and 5SOS5 in 2022. Hood has written songs with other artists, such as the Black Veil Brides and Makeout, and the band.
