Psychotherapists believe that it is improper to force parents to provide ‘gender-affirming care’ since it disregards the immaturity of children.
Fox News was informed by a certified psychotherapist that a new bill in California would require parents to offer “gender-affirming care” for their children, which would restrict the rights of parents to make medical decisions about their children.
In accordance with the updated version of AB 95 7, it is possible for a parent to be found guilty of child abuse if they fail to “affirm” their kid’s gender during a custody battle. This measure, if it were to pass, would require the courts to give precedence to the parent who “affirms” the minor’s chosen identify, despite the fact that it does not specify what “affirmation” involves. If the bill were to pass, it would become law.
“For the state of California to bring in a bill based on this new approach is so high-handed and reckless, it’s going to cause an awful lot of distress,” said Stella O’Malley, the chief psychotherapist at Genspect, whose headquarters are situated in Ireland. O’Malley works for Genspect, which is a company that specializes in mental health services. According to the information provided on their website, they advocate for “evidence-based approaches to gender distress.”
There are various issues with this particular measure. O’Malley explained the origin of the issue in an interview with Fox News, saying that “they don’t define what is affirmation.”
