A paternity test revealed that Graves fathered the child of a student.
A California teacher is on the verge of losing his job after two former students accused him of sexual abuse.
Steve Graves, 61, the band director of Lexington Junior High School, is accused of sexually abusing two former students in the 1980s. The Anaheim Union High School District recently declared that the school leaders have started processing the dismissal documents of Graves, who is currently on administrative leave.
The law firm representing the victims, Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, told the media that the abuse started in 1986 while he was a teacher at Loara High School in Anaheim. The teacher was believed to be in his early 20s at that time.
According to the report, both women were 16 years old when they were sexually abused. Reiko, who happens to be one of the victims, told the media that she had a child for Graves at the age of 17.
Following her pregnancy, Reiko was transferred to a different, and she eventually gave birth. Reiko later connected with her colleague, who was also abuse by Graves nearly four decades ago on social media, and they started sharing their stories.
There is an ongoing investigation into the matter by the Anaheim Police Department, but there are no charges filed against Graves. According to sources, the women are planning to take a civil suit against their former teacher.
According to Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department, “Our detectives started to immediately investigate the case and they learned there was another. A second victim who was a student at the same time.”
Lawyer Morgan Stewart told the media that he has evidence that supervisors “knew that [Graves] was a predator and yet kept him on and kept him on for the past 30+ years,” but he has yet to release that proof publicly.
The AUHSD said in a statement that it was “shocked, saddened, and upset,” to learn of the “credible allegations.”

The statement continued, “Once the District became aware of this situation at the end of August, Graves was placed on administrative leave and removed from campus.” “AUHSD has been fully cooperating with the Anaheim Police Department as they investigate this incident to identify any other possible instances of inappropriate behavior, harassment, or sexual misconduct by Graves.”
According to the Lexington High School’s website and Facebook page, Steve Graves is an award-winning and popular band teacher. Some of his notable achievements include winning the OC band teacher of the year in 2018.
Some reports also say that Steve Graves also taught at Ball Junior High School, and investigators are concerned that some of his past students fell victim to his sexually abuse acts.
Sutter stated, “As a father myself to a daughter who is in high school this case is deeply disturbing to me as with any parent. We trust our children when they go to school to be in the care and custody of our teachers our educators and when you hear about something like this it’s really disturbing.”
