The stabbings took place on Saturday night between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Over the weekend, authorities in Long Beach, California, received reports of four stabbings within nine hours.
According to City News Service, Long Beach Police said that in the wake of the stabbings that occurred on Saturday night and early Sunday morning, the agency has increased its presence.
The Long Beach Police Department told Fox 11 on Sunday that “the LBPD will have additional police presence today, including patrol officers and Neighborhood Safety Bike Team officers to engage with residents and businesses.”
In the first stabbing, which occurred at around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday in the 2000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, a male was stabbed many times in his upper body, according to police reports, following an argument that turned physical. Before the police could arrive, the suspects left the site.
The victim was admitted to the hospital and given a stable status report.
When police were sent to the 5100 block of Second Street in Belmont Shore at around two in the morning on Sunday, there was another stabbing incident. Two guys had gotten into a physical argument that got out of hand. After being stabbed in the upper body by the suspect, the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The culprit, according to the police, left the area before help could reach.
At around 2:20 a.m., there was another incident. Following this, police were called to a nearby hospital about two stab wound patients who had been hospitalized.
According to the preliminary inquiry, a lady who had stabbed each of the victims in the upper body had started a physical confrontation with two other women in the 200 block of Pine Avenue downtown. The conditions of the two victims were described as stable.
The fourth stabbing, according to the police, happened in the 5100 block of Second Street at about three in the morning. Although the second stabbing occurred at this same site, according to the police, there seems to be no connection between the two incidents.
According to authorities, the victim was outside fighting with several other women when she was assaulted by one female suspect and then stabbed in the upper body by another female suspect. The victim drove herself to a hospital where her condition was stable.
Investigations are still ongoing to learn more about the suspects and their motivations for the stabbings.
The police department is asking anyone with knowledge on any of the stabbings to get in touch with them.
