A firefighting helicopter that had collided in the air while trying to put out a brush fire crashed on Sunday night in Riverside County, California, resulting in the deaths of many persons. The collision occurred in the middle of the sky.
According to a post on social media by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 7:20 p.m. local time while firefighters were putting out a fire on 20 acres of Native American land near Cabazon. The post was made in local time.
Pipeline Road and Apache Trail met close to the location of the accident, which was not far from their junction.
