Bruno Fernandes in a recent interview with The Athletic aim a dig at former Manchester United managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick when rating Erik Ten Hag.
The Manchester United deputy captain said: “First of all, he has an idea. He has a style. You have to follow his rules. He is strict about that. And I like that.
“He has brought discipline, which is something I think we missed in the past. Everyone must be on the same page.
“That is what Pep (Guardiola) and (Jurgen) Klopp have been doing for years because they have stability in the club and in the way they choose the transfer market and build the team, which is really important for them to get the rewards.
“I saw the manager say in a press conference that we do not want to bring players just for the sake of bringing them; we want to bring the right players for what we want to do. It is something the club needs.
“We still have a margin to improve and he needs time to get the most out of us with his idea of playing. I believe we will get to the point with him where we are established as a team and everyone is on the same page.”
However, former Manchester United right-back Paul Parker slammed Bruno Fernandes over his comments.
What did Paul Parker say?
Asked about Bruno Fernandes’s comments on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, Parker said via BEMyBet: “I don’t think that’s any excuse.
“There’s been a lot of money spent on individuals to play for that club and they haven’t signed there, to be told what to do all the time.
“A lot was expected of them, and they haven’t followed through. Nowhere near. It is quite obvious that Bruno Fernandes is saying that to detox himself more than anything.
“Coming out and saying there have been a lot of managers because you and your teammates haven’t been delivering is embarrassing.”
Quizzed about Bruno Fernandes’s comments on his failed move to Tottenham, the former Manchester United right-back added: “They probably didn’t offer as much money as Manchester United.
“Which totally makes sense because United do overpay when they are signing players.
“But it would probably have been a better idea to go to Tottenham because Manchester United are too big of a club for him in the sense that you can see how rubbish he plays when things ain’t going right.
“He definitely isn’t the kind of disciplined player that Manchester United need.
“And I’m pretty sure that many Man United fans, despite him lifting them during the lockdown period, would say that they´ve wished he joined Tottenham instead of Man United.
“Bruno Fernandes is the kind of person. If the boat was sinking, he would be the first person to jump out of it.”
Manchester United after losing their first two games in the Premier League have gone on to their last four. Bruno Fernandes has been excellent so far and has been handed the captain hand band after Harry Maguire was been relegated to the bench.
