News emerging from Old Trafford this morning is that Manchester United has parted ways with their first team coach, Erik Ten Hag.
This comes after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday in the Premier League. According to a statement by Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined the team in the summer as an Assistant coach, will be the interim coach. At the same time, they are looking to recruit a new manager.
The news of Erik Ten Hag’s sacking was inevitable following Manchester United’s poor start to the season. The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League after spending over £205.9 million in the summer transfer.
The official statement from Manchester United reads: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future”.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited”.
Erik Ten Hag joined on 21 April 2022 and won two domestic trophies for Manchester United: FA Cup: 2023–24 and EFL Cup: 2022–23.
