Only one senior Liverpool player was playing for his country on Wednesday night, as Alisson distinguished himself for Brazil in their draw with the United States in Orlando.
This was the final friendly between both sides before the Copa America, which starts on June 21 at 1am (BST) with Argentina against Canada.
After 11 straight losses against Brazil, the US had not defeated them until the 1-1 tie, which was the first time this had happened since 1998.
USA boss Gregg Berhalter’s team pushed Liverpool’s goalkeeper to work early on with Alisson in goal.
When Yunus Musah fired a rocket from outside the box in the fifth minute, it struck the underside of the crossbar but missed the mark, giving the goalkeeper the impression that he was defeated.
Coach Dorival Junior’s Brazil team took the lead against the flow of play, courtesy to Rodrygo, who finished with his left foot after collecting a superb Raphinha ball in stride.
The advantage was short-lived, though, as Christian Pulisic beat Alisson with a driving, low free kick beneath the wall in the 26th minute.
The number one player for Liverpool didn’t make a mistake, but he will be sad to have given up on his standing side.
The score stayed at 1-1 until the end of regulation, but only because of Alisson’s outstanding second-half save, in which he deftly used his left arm to deny Pulisic from scoring another goal.
Brazil had a chance to win it themselves late in injury time, but Vinicius Junior lost his cool and fired the ball over goal rather than finishing.
It is anticipated that Alisson will continue to start in goal for the Copa America.
Brazil’s opening match in the USA competition is scheduled for June 25 at 2 a.m. (BST) against Costa Rica.
There will be group stage matches in Nevada and Santa Clara, respectively, against Paraguay and Luis Diaz’s Colombia.
Argentina, captained by Alexis Mac Allister, is presently the tournament favorite, followed by Brazil. Darwin Nunez of Uruguay is the third favorite.
