He won with an 11-0 score, the only perfect score in tournament history In 1964. Fischer won 6-0 victories against Mark Taimanov and Bent Larsen in qualifying for the 1972 World Championship. Fischer won the title final against Boris Spassky of the USSR at Reykjavik, Iceland, after winning another qualifying match against Tigran Petrosian.
