President Biden delivered harsh words to Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that the war was “chosen by one man,” and he accused Russia of committing an “extremely significant” violation of the international charter of the United Nations in its “brutal, needless war” against Ukraine. In his speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations on Wednesday in New York City, President Biden reflected on the past year.
“In the last year, our globe has undergone extraordinary upheaval,” Biden stated in his opening comments to UNGA. “We have seen a mounting crisis and food shortages; record heat; floods; droughts; COVID-19; inflation; and a violent, senseless war—a war chosen by one man.”
