Congressmen are voicing their opinions over President Joe Biden’s recently issued executive order on immigration, which has drawn criticism from both political parties.
The most aggressive move taken by President Biden, according to Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., was to undo all of President Trump’s effective executive measures taken to protect the border, totaling 92, 93 executive acts since he took office. Thus, President Biden has always been able to control border security. He had the power to secure it, and he utilized it to unlock it.
Some Democrats feel the order is overly restrictive, while Republicans argue it doesn’t go far enough in resolving the problem and securing the border.
“We must make changes to our flawed immigration system. Our border needs to be secured. Sen. Jim Costa (D-Calif.), stated, “With unemployment at an all-time low for jobs, we need to provide additional support.” Therefore, we require more skilled workers for building given the agriculture-based economy in our region. There is a labor shortage and we need more people who are ready to work in these positions.
The executive order, which was signed by Biden on Tuesday, would curb immigration at the Southern border by preventing asylum claims from being processed when border officers determine that the border is overflowing.
4,000 a day plus hundreds of thousands more on parole is what you’re talking about. You continue to speak with 1.5 million individuals who cross the border each year but are not going to be granted citizenship. Rep. Andy Harris, a Republican from Maryland, stated, “This does nothing to control the southern border.”
