Bank workers to start paying taxes on their clothes effective January 2020

Staff of all banks in the country will start paying taxes on clothes they purchase from January 2020, The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) made this known in a letter sighted by this news portal.


The letter stated a series of meeting between the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ghana Banker’s Association to impose tax on clothing allowance on Banker’s from top management to the least person.

The GRA said “clothing allowance, unless it is reimbursable is taxable”, the letter signed by Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, Ag Commissioner of GRA said in part.
