An elected New Mexico judge and her pets were shot and killed by her husband on Friday, according to the authorities, before he turned the pistol on himself.
The slain couple and “many dead animals,” according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, were discovered inside the couple’s Los Ranchos De Albuquerque house by deputies.
The sheriff’s office tweeted on Saturday that the incident is thought to be a murder-suicide. An unsettling message from Eric Pinkerton prompted a friend of the deceased to call the sheriff’s office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Eric Pinkerton is thought to have killed his wife and a number of pets inside the home before killing himself. The identities of the deceased have been verified as Diane Albert, 65, and Eric Pinkerton, 63.
