Clay Silverstein was born in the Sheepshead Bay district of Brooklyn, New York City, to parents Jacqueline and Fred Silverstein. He is Jewish. He has one sister.
Clay began performing impressions for his family at the age of five, and by the age of seven, he was playing drums, influenced by the sounds of big band music.
