Matthew Godwin is being held without bail while he is being investigated for the homicide of Kyhara Tay in the Bronx.
The suspect, who is 15 years old and is accused of shooting and killing an 11-year-old girl in New York City while she was riding a scooter, entered a not guilty plea during his hearing on Monday.
Matthew Godwin entered a not guilty plea in connection with the shooting death of Kyhara Tay a week ago. The allegations against him include murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the first degree, and criminal possession of a handgun.
Godwin, who is now detained, is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for a retrial of the case.

On May 16, stray gunfire reportedly caused Tay to be mortally injured in the Bronx. This information comes from the New York Police Department. Godwin was detained and brought into custody by law enforcement as he and his mother were staying at a hotel.
