Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon Kennedy Agyapong has asked the Akufo-Addo led administration to admit that it has failed in it bid to fight illegal mining popularly know as galamsey.
Speaking on NET 2 Television, the loudmouth believes some greedy people in the Inter-Ministerial Committee Against Illegal Mining want to taint the Good image of the President using their selfish interest to amass wealth at the blind side of the President.
“We have failed in terms of Galamsey fight. We have indeed failed and we must admit. I won’t lie and people who did not sacrifice for the party are the ones enjoying…they did not suffer. They have to stop all those people including the soldiers for GalamStop. They must be stopped from working”, he said.
According to him, this can tarnish the Good works by government because some people always put their selfish interest above anything and nothing will change them.
The vibrant communicator for the NPP was reacting to the missing 500 excavators and thus has put the integrity of NPP government into question.
Some few days ago, news gathered from security agencies that illegal miners whose excavators were seized paid between GHS50, 000 and GHS 55,000 into a private account of a journalist in order to take back their equipment.
Peace Fm’s Seth Mantey in his account to the security agencies revealed “I became the contact boy for the miners whose excavators had been seized. The miners pay between GHS50, 000 and GHS55, 000 into my account at NIB to influence the team for the seized excavators to be released. I then inform the team about the payment of the monies into my account, which I withdraw and give to Mr. Ofori Atta who then give some to Mr Ekow Ewudzie of the Inter-Ministerial Committee.”
He added “I can estimate so far that we have released close to between 27 to 30 excavators under cover but the money paid to my accounts have all been withdrawn and given to Mr Ofori Atta a.k.a Commando.”
