It could be a good number of years before Yellowstone is completely recovered from its floods.
Following historic flooding that caused extensive damage to residences and infrastructure, certain portions of Yellowstone National Park have begun to partially reopen to visitors.
At three of the park’s five gates, there is a mechanism that helps keep the number of visitors at a level that is more reasonable.
On even days, entry is permitted for vehicles with license plates that end in an even number, while on odd days, entry is permitted for vehicles with registration plates that end in an odd number.
Those individuals who have reservations at campgrounds or hotels are exempt from some requirements of the license plate system. Additionally, groups of people who travel together in separate vehicles are also eligible for these exemptions.
