In March, Biden made the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023 a law.
Exclusive: The COVID origins bill, which President Biden signed into law earlier this year and which demands the declassification of any material relating to the connections between a Chinese lab and the origin of COVID-19, is being enforced by two Republican senators, and they have demanded that Vice President Biden comply.
Despite the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023’s June 18 deadline for declassification, the Biden administration has failed to take any action on its criteria.
Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Mike Braun, R-Ind., wrote to Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday and provided a copy of the letter to Fox News Digital. “We write today to urge the swift and complete implementation of the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, which Congress unanimously passed, and which you signed into law on March 20, 2023,” the letter reads.
As you know, within 90 days of the law’s passage, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) must “declassify any and all information” about connections between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the COVID-19 origin.
Hawley and Braun also pointed out that the administration had not yet provided any information on the timing of the declassification of the pertinent information and that the law also required that “all of the information” be provided to Congress.
They said that while the legislation forbade any censorship of the data, it did allow for a more limited range of redaction in order “to protect intelligence sources and methods.”
“Your Administration should comply with the law as written and not undermine clear congressional intent to provide as much transparency to the American people as possible,” said Hawley and Braun in their letter.
The legislators they democratically elected have unanimously said that the American people need to know how this epidemic started. I beg you, don’t get in their way,” they said.
Fox News Digital contacted the White House for comment, but no answer was received immediately.
