Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene an hour late and had to battle the fire for hours. Following initial assessments, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) said the outbreak was caused by the burning of worn-out tyres close to shops in the hub.

The police say they have begun investigations into matter, although the cause of the fire is yet to be disclosed. The effects of damage caused is also yet to be assessed, as NADMO continuous to assess the situation. However, reports suggest some shop owners have also lost goods running into hundreds of cedis as a result of the fire.

Meanwhile, the Abbosey Okai area has been cordoned off by the police in order for assessment to continue. According to him, Ghanaians were deceived into thinking that President Akufo-Addo was an incorruptible man.
