On Saturday, June 1 (local time), the USA defeated Canada in their T20 World Cup debut in Dallas thanks to an undefeated 94 from Aaron Jones in just 40 deliveries. Following the conclusion of Jones’ six-hitting spree, fans were curious to learn more about him, and it turned out that he was a fan of Virat Kohli.
On the first day of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Dallas, it was an intense match as the co-hosts, the United States of America (USA), surprised their neighbors, Canada, by winning in a thrilling comeback. USA’s innings, which was chasing 195 in the first over of the competition, was nowhere near 48/2 after eight overs, with the needed rate already over 12. Next was a storm, more like a Tsunami of sixes started by Aaron Jones and his partner Andries Gous followed him in the footsteps and the result was, the target was chased down in 17.4 overs.
Before ending the game in Jeremy Gordon’s over with 33 runs, Jones and Gous feasted on the spinners, Nikhil Dutta and Canada captain Saad Bin Zafar. It was tough hitting from both of them. Gous was out for 65, but Jones didn’t give up and led his team to a thrilling victory in front of the home crowd at Grand Prairie Stadium, finishing undefeated on 94 off only 40 balls.
