A county sheriff in Washington was “discouraged” after the juvenile suspect who allegedly opened fire outside of a high school on Monday was granted bond less than 24 hours after his arrest. The suspect is 15 years old.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, gunshots were heard at about 3:10 p.m. on Monday in the parking lot of Mariner High School, which is located in Everett. Deputy police officers have been sent to the location. It is reported that the teenager fired multiple rounds at a vehicle that was transporting two other children before running away on foot. The two children were not hurt in any way.
After being able to positively identify the suspect and tracking him down to the 2300 block of 119 Street Southwest on Tuesday shortly before 6:15 p.m., deputy deputies were able to successfully detain him there.
After the teen was taken into custody, he was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, interfering with school activities, and having a dangerous weapon on school grounds. All of these charges were brought after he was taken into custody.
