The world’s attention has been seized by spoons in a feat that defies logic, gravity, and perhaps common sense. An Iranian man has just shattered a world record for the third time by balancing a staggering 96 spoons on his body.
The man behind this unconventional triumph is Abolfazl Saber Mokhtari, a 54-year-old Iranian record-setter whose body seems to repel the very concept of friction. With an almost magnetic touch or perhaps just an extremely steady posture, Mokhtari successfully balanced 96 spoons across his frame, beating previous records and earning a spot in the Guinness World Records.
Mokhtari first claimed the record for most spoons balanced on the body in 2021 with 85, smashing the record of 64 that came before him, and later he broke his own record with 88 spoons in 2023.
Mokhtari said he has been sticking objects to his skin since he was a child. He told Guinness World Records that he was able to strengthen his talent and develop it. He added that, “Anything that has a surface I can stick to my body, such as plastic, glass, fruit, stone, wood and even a fully grown human.”
The world of Guinness records has long been the home of the bizarre, the fascinating, and sometimes the completely unnecessary.
Some hail this as a testament to discipline and focus. Others argue that world records should mean something more; shouldn’t the quest for global recognition be reserved for advancements in science, medicine, or humanitarian efforts?
