Sunday morning, in a grocery store in Des Moines, police say a woman who was legally allowed to carry a firearm shot and killed another woman who had been physically assaulting her.
According to Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek, who spoke to reporters about the incident, “This was something spontaneous that unfortunately transpired in that grocery store where a lot of people were shopping for groceries.
The assault allegedly took place at approximately 10 a.m. local time in a Hy-Vee grocery store, and the suspect, Kapri Lashawn Francis, is 30 years old. Francis suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest at the hands of an unidentified female assailant who was authorized to possess a firearm.
A male customer’s foot was injured as a result of the gunshot that ricocheted off of the suspect’s leg and hit him.
