If you are passionate about online learning or selling your very own course, a mini course is the perfect place to start! You can design it in your style and be creative with the process.

Let us take a look at a few tips for creating a successful mini course!

1. Pick A Good Niche

This is probably one of the most crucial steps in creating a mini-course.

The topic you pick will definitely determine how well your course will do. You should pick something you feel passionately about and enjoy writing and talking about.

It shouldn’t be a generic topic like ‘sport’ or ‘fashion’ but should be specific with a potential for practical learning and knowledge.

Do some research on different niches of your interest and shortlist a few based upon interest, success rate and learning value.

Once you pick one, do extensive research about it.

What information is already available to the general public?

How can I provide something of value and add new information to this course?

Once your research is done, you can fix your topic.

2. Set Learning Objectives Or Course Goals

It is important to define the goals people should achieve with your course.

They should gain something new and informative which they will be able to implement in their daily life.

Make a list of the learning objectives and goals of your mini course.

The more specific you are, the better – since people will know exactly what to expect!

3. Define Your Audience

Every course, whether short or long, should be aligned to the interests of its target audience.

The audience can be people of a certain age group, occupation, gender or ethnicity.

For example, an advanced mini-course on video editing would target people who want to hone their basic video editing skills or beginners with some experience.

A mini course on breastfeeding would target expecting mothers or even women who are trying to get pregnant.

Make sure you have a clear idea of your target audience.

4. Create A Detailed Course Structure

Once you have created a basic outline for your course, it is time to break it down to lessons for detailed content.

Make sure you have a thorough design with integrated elements like pictures, videos, infographics and other interactive elements.

Don’t just lay out plain information without any supporting elements. Your audience will learn better if there are interactive elements.

If you already know course designing, all well and good.

But if you don’t know much and don’t want to spend much time creating your course, you can use a course generator!

5. Decide The Platform For Hosting Your Mini Course

You can host your mini course either on third-party platforms or even on your own website.

If you don’t have a website you can have a professional one made.

On the other hand, if you don’t want to invest in a website, you can launch your course on other platforms but monetization might be limited.

6.  Price Your Course

Many people price their mini courses, especially if there is a valuable resource or information involved.

It is completely okay if you want to give away your course for free as well if you are just starting.

7. Work On Marketing Your Course

Proper marketing will help people find out about your course.

You can utilize all your social media platforms, especially ones like Instagram which have good potential for reaching a large number of people.

If you are serious about marketing your course, you can even invest in paid ads.

Conclusion

After you do a trial launch, make sure you review customer feedback and get constructive criticism.

Your first launch might feel challenging but you will get better with experience and time!
