Seven students were killed and 20 wounded when the roof of a school building collapsed in India’s western state of Rajasthan on Friday. According to authorities, all those trapped under the rubble had been accounted for.
According to Amit Kumar, a local police officer, the school building was old and collapsed as a result of heavy rainfall in the region.

A student told ANI news agency that “Stones started falling inside… Suddenly, the whole roof fell and we came out. There were 30 students in the classroom.”
Video from a news channel showed locals gathered at the site of the collapse. As authorities removed rubble with a crane, distressed family members could be heard wailing.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said on X, “Instructions have been given to the concerned authorities to ensure proper treatment for the injured children.”
