When life gets stressful, it can be difficult to stay grounded. Whether it’s a job, a relationship, or something that is important in your life, we can easily lose track of other things that are going in our lives.

Thus, it’s important that we set aside time in our days to practice things that help us to do so.

Staying grounded and connecting with nature are two aspects of our lives that go hand in hand. So, let’s take a look at five easy ways to stay grounded and connect with nature.

5. Outdoor yoga and meditation

Yoga and meditation, no matter where you practice, have incredible benefits for the body and for the mind.

One of the easiest ways to stay grounded and connect with nature is to take your practice outside.

Take your yoga mat and head to the back of the garden, the local park, or further afield to a quiet spot by a lake, a hill, or anywhere that you fully feel at ease.

Uncurl your mat, close your eyes, take the deepest breath you have taken all day and listen, smell, and discover what’s all around you.

Being physically in nature is certainly one of the best ways to connect with it. Furthermore, when you’re practising a spiritual discipline such as yoga or meditation while in the great outdoors, it’ll root you in a way like no other.

4. Take a break from social media

Social media is a great way to connect with friends, family, and new people in your life. However, it can also be a very toxic space.

When we constantly watch other people’s lives on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and more, it can be difficult to remember where you are in life and what is important to you.

Social media has always been a place of comparison, and in many ways, it disillusions us to our reality and our situations.

As such, taking a break from social media, whether it’s cutting out unnecessary apps completely or limiting the time you spend on them, can help you stay grounded and return to reality and nature.

Take the time you would usually spend on social media and focus it somewhere more important. You’ll feel a lot better for it.

3. Surround yourself with people who love you

There are certain people in our lives who enrich us and really boost us up in this world. Spending time with those people, the most important people in your life, can be very grounding.

Furthermore, making the decision to remove yourself from relationships that no longer serve you is something that comes about in every person’s life. Often, if you feel that it is necessary, it’ll be a great decision for your life in the long run.

Surrounding yourself with people who love and care about you will be beneficial, as these are the people who will truly keep you grounded.

2. Cold water therapy

Cold water therapy is a great tool to both keep you grounded and connect you with nature.

It could be something as simple as splashing your face with cold water when things get a little bit overwhelming.

Or, it could be the regular practice of a cold-water sea swim. The benefits of cold-water swimming are incredible.

From relieving anxiety to getting your blood flowing, it can be a great grounding technique that is also great for the health of your body and soul. Focusing on the water and how it feels, its temperature, and what it is doing to your body has great benefits.

1. Move your body

Regular exercise, whether it’s a simple daily walk in the park or a HIIT class at the gym, can be a great way to keep yourself grounded. When your exercise involves getting out in the great outdoors, even better.

When you hike a mountain with a friend, talk a lazy walk in the park by yourself, or join a running group you found online, you help yourself to remember where you are and what you are here to do, to live!

It’s a great way to stay grounded and connect with nature, even if you are playing tennis or taking a class inside the gym!

So, next time you need to feel grounded and at one with nature, take one of these five easy ways on board, and it will do you a world of good.
