A day at the beach is always a fun thing to do, and whether you go alone, with friends, or you take the family with you, you’ll want to ensure that not only is it a fun day, but it’s a safe day too. Here are some excellent tips to help you stay safe at the beach and enjoy yourself to the max.

Contents
  • Use Sunscreen
  • Stay Together
  • Check the Tide
  • Keep Shaded

Use Sunscreen

One of the most important elements of going to the beach is to ensure that you use sunscreen. Apply it when you’re at home before you set off, and then reapply it every two hours or so, even if you’ve not been in the water (if you have been swimming or paddling, reapply it more often).

Not only will your sunscreen protect you from getting sunburned, which can be incredibly painful and ruin the day entirely, but it will also protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays which can be harmful and even cause cancer. It’s also wise to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the same UV rays, but remember, if you’re wearing them in the sea, you’ll need a safety strap from Just-glasses.co.uk so that you don’t lose them in the waves.

Stay Together

If you have decided to go to the beach as a group, then it’s best to stay as a group all day, especially when you have young children to think about. Even shallow water can be dangerous for small children, and a strong current can easily pull them into deeper water within moments.

The best advice when at the beach is to enjoy being with your little ones and not to be distracted by a screen or even a book. Pay attention to them, play with them, and enjoy their company. If you want some time to yourself, come back to the beach when they’re at school or being cared for by someone else.

Check the Tide

By far the most dangerous element of being at the beach is the sea. Make sure you check the tides before you go so that you can make the most of the water, but also check that it’s safe to go in. There should be flags flown to give you details about how safe the sea is and whether or not you should enter it. If you’re not sure what the different colors of the flags mean, do some research before heading off. The last thing you’ll want to do is to go into the sea when you’re not meant to and pay the consequences.

Keep Shaded

When you go to the beach at Globo Surf, you’ll want to be able to enjoy the sun, but as we’ve said, it can be dangerous, so you need to be careful. Sunscreen is crucial, but so is staying in the shade when you can. Have a large beach umbrella or find a tree to sit under when you’re not playing in the sun or bathing in the sea.

The hottest times of the day when the sun is at its strongest are between 11 am and 3 pm, so being shaded at this time at the very least is a good idea. You’ll have less risk of burning, sunstroke, and other sun-related health problems.
